thursday tip: packing tips!

the last 40 bags update...todd put my cabinet together last week and it is up and the small storage closet is done!!!!  and i am loving it.  i just finished painting over some water damaged that i cleaned up too...so here is the finally pictures!

you can see the water damage i need to paint in this picture...it will be done soon!

packing tips...this year i don't feel like i am on the ball with packing for vacation.  maybe it is because i just know i live in my swimsuit for most of the trip or it is because life has been so busy!  between being gone in madison for 7 days, my dad passing away and the shop was so busy when i got back, the days have just ran together and not that i have not been thinking about vacation, but life is here and i have to deal with that before i can get on a plane and relax!

but, i do have a few tips to share....

first:
i always make a packing list:

second:
i always pack the following in my carry-on...after not have luggage for 2 days on a trip!
-1 swimsuit
-cover up
-underwear/bra
-one outfit
-sandals
-bathroom stuff-the travel size
-books & camera

third:
this is how i pack my suitcase: (sorry i don't have a picture...still packing!)
-underwear/socks/bras-in the corners of the suitcase or the zipper pocket
-heavy clothes on the bottom
-for items that you don't want to get wrinkled...i use a sheet of tissue paper between them
-shoes in the outside zipper pocket of suitcase
-have a fun luggage tags...since everyone has the same black suitcase!
-i bring extras of underwear/socks/bra and a shirt...you just never know!

these are just a few tips that work for me...if you have any, please share, i have just started packing...thank goodness i have another 3 days!

  2. how fun you are going on vacation!! enjoy! when we pack, i always draw out a list for my daughter (she's 5) but she's loved doing this the past few years. i will draw each item she is to pack and have a number of how many to bring next to it. and once she packs it she puts a check next to it. she's very list oriented like her mama. makes packing fun for her. but i always have to go through and fold it and make sure it matches at least a little. ;)
