thursday tip: birthday party planning

i tend to go a little over the top when it comes to birthdays...i believe they are a BIG deal...HUGE!!! so of course, when we had the girls, i could not wait for their 1st birthday and i could plan it!!!

looking back...1st birthday!
all of the party pictures are on a cd...which was too much work to find right now...so here is the sign i made for the yard!

1 year pictures:

i am a little too much type a when it comes to these things!  so here are a few tips that i feel help me not get too stressed out about planning their parties!
  • start early!  i think i knew the theme of their party in January...really, i am crazy!  and i have a list of great party ideas for other birthday!
  •  make a list of all your stuff you need to get...invites, favors, bags, cake, food...everything!
  • order anything you need to on-line...invites, supplies
  • make the invite list...at this age, it really doesn't change for us...we are just doing family this year.
  • i picked up stuff when i saw it... favors for gift bags, gifts for the girls, party supplies, anything.
  • send out invite one month before party...this is just my crazy timing!
  • figure out the flow of the party...activities, when to eat, open gifts, cake...again, i am crazy!
  • order balloons 2 weeks before...another crazy timing that i live by, not sure why.  i just know i can pick them up the day of the party and not have to wait for them...they are ready for me and paid for too!
  • have plan b if plan a is not going to work...weather would be the biggest case for me.  since their birthday is in june, we will be outside!
so those are my tips...pretty simple, just make lists...lots of them, be organized and once you have your 'theme' stick with it!

2nd birthday...music theme, it was a lot of fun!
teacher molly came...that is their music teacher...who the LOVE!

to see more details, check out this post.

i can't wait to share what this year will be...a little girly, so i am working on bring some boy factor into the party, but it is hard with two little girls!

and tomorrow...part 1 of the house tour begins!

oh, and thanks for the ideas for the sewing space...hopefully working on something this weekend, if not really soon!
