two little tots: feature shop: The Solarwood Doll Bed Shop!

okay, i think that is my longest blog title out there! it is my slow time of year right now, which is pretty nice after the busy holiday season.  i was so busy this year i was a little sick of sewing, which i could not believe.  

so i cheated on sewing this holiday season...YES, i cheated.  i could have made this cute doll bedding that the girls got this Christmas...

but i didn't have it in me to create a pattern, go get more fabric and figure it out...so i cheated and ordered it off etsy!  and let me tell you i am SO happy i did!  i LOVE it and the bedding is so well made.  The Solarwood Doll Bed Shop was wonderful to work with and made the bedding to fit these beds...so it was all custom!  There are cute little mattress that go with the beds too.  You have to check out their shop if you need doll bedding or beds!  They have some really cute stuff!

So, even though i cheated and didn't make the bedding myself, i was really happy with the end result. and i figured why make it, when it is someone has it done already!


new things will be coming to the shop soon...i hope.  there are some new testing rules for children's items that goes in effect in Feb. and i need to figure out if they affect my business before i make anything new...i will keep you posted!

two little tots: great wedding gift

we have had 2 weddings in the past month.  we have not been to a wedding in over a year...it was so much fun to get dressed up and go...and we were kid free at both of them.

one of a family and the other a good friend that i used to work with at target.  as i was sitting at my friend's wedding last weekend, i felt so honor to be part of her special day.  both weddings were beautiful and fun!

i love finding great gifts for weddings too...years ago i would go off of their list, now it is fun to find something perfect and unique for the couple...


gina over at dreamland designs/lettergirl did this post...and i thought what a great wedding gift!

so here is a great gift idea:

 and i paired it with was fall flour sack towels...they will be in the shop soon...just need some free time to get them listed!

two little tots: halloween costumes!

you guessed right....the sneak peak last week were these little cuties...

 the girls are going to be cupcakes for halloween this year!  and these were so easy to make. 

(this is mara's, k's is a little bit brighter pink cupcake)

i love the pottery barn kids cupcakes, but i was not going to pay $59.00 a piece for them...just a little out of my halloween budget for costumes.  i found a great tutorial here and changed it a little bit, this is what I did:

-1 yard of felt for the cupcake top...so much cheaper, it was on sale for $2.99 a yard
-.5 yard of light tan for the jumper/skirt part
-.5 yard of brown for the fence post part
And i sewed the 2 cupcake ruffles together, the white ruffle at the neck line and the jumper/skirt vs. hot glued.  Also, I used Velcro to close the neck...the cupcake ruffle top just goes around there neck and velcros in the back...so easy!  I pretty much did everything else the same in the tutorial.  

my grand total for each costume was $8.00...i cannot believe how cheap and easy they were to make.  the girls will wear some cute leggings and a turtleneck under them.  i love how they turned out...just to give you an idea, here is the pottery barn kids one...

 i am still working on making a cherry hair clip, but i know what i am going do to.  the girls would take a headband out all night...so a little clip will be perfect.

if you have questions about how to make this costume, please email me...again, you don't have to be a sewer at all to make this...and they took me about 3 hours total to make 2 of them! 

nothing new in the shop right now due to jury duty!  yes, i am still at the courthouse...today i will find out if i am not a case.

two little tots: jack of all trades!

i have been so busy the last few weeks, it has been crazy, but so much fun!  i said to todd one night, i feel like i am a jack of all trades right now...a little of this and a little of that!

i had the pleasure of helping out noemi with an all day photo shoot...6 families and it was so much fun and i learned a lot!

i did a custom order...i think these t's turned out so cute!

then i had the great opportunity to work at gussy's booth at the creative connection!

it was so much fun to work her booth and meet some wonderful ladies that i now can call my friends!  thanks gussy!
