but, i have GREAT news for mara!!!!
yes, little missy mara, has been in OT(occupational therapy) for almost a year. she was a late crawler and walker, but still within the normal range, but had low muscle tone. Basically, what low muscle tone is when your child's muscles are on the loose, floppy side and they tend to be delayed in some motor skills...that is why she didn't really crawl that much and then didn't walk until 16 months.
at her 2-year old check up the doctor thought it would be a good idea to have her tested to see if she needed any OT. she was very border line, but both todd and i felt that it was the best thing for her.
well this week she tested out of OT!!!!!! she had come so far in a short period of time, i am so proud of her. her balance has improved, she is still a little delayed in some areas, but falls within the normal range, she is so much more confidence with what she can and cannot do, she is more social with kids her age...she never played with other kids her age before OT...she would just sit with mom.
in my heart of hearts i knew this was the best thing for her. it was that motherly sense that all us mother have...crazy, but wonderful! even if she didn't have a huge delay, OT gave her the skills and the confidence she needed to be a happy little girl...and let me tell you she is the happiest little girl and so laid back!
i just love her to pieces!
she is one big mommy's girls and i love it!
good job mara!

She's adorable! Your pics are fantastic too. What wonderful news, I know how you feel, it's that way for me and my 5 year old little girl! :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, what a wonderful accomplishment! She's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYay Mara!!!
ReplyDeleteShe is so stinkin pretty!
ReplyDeleteway to go mara! that's so exciting! my daughter was a late walker too (16 months), and looking back i bet she would've benefited from OT. just goes to show, always trust our mama's instinct.
ReplyDeleteThat is great news! My daughter did OT and speech therapy and it was a wonderful day when she "graduated." Way to go Mara!!!
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome! my best friend is a pediatric occupational therapist, so i always love hearing success stories!
ReplyDeleteYAY MARA! That's great news! My first daughter Rose did not walk until she was 16 months old (and I was 6 months prego with her sister) either. But what I figured out is that no baby is the same - she had amazing fine motor skills and was able to feed herself soup at 9 months old. So you definitely have to look at their strengths and promote them! Good job mama!
