1. we really are starting to feel connected to our current church and have started to become involved, which makes such a difference!
2. i really love our mass, it is a pretty traditional catholic mass, but we have a great choir, which as a little bit more of a non-traditional feel...i love that!
3. the girls have some great friends in their preschool class and i we love the welcoming feel at school.
4. it is so, so close to our house, which is so nice!
but, the school is small and not really growing right now. there has been a decline with enrollment, mostly due to the economy. right now there is only one class per grade and pretty small classes, which is great for a lot of reasons, but with twins we feel they need to be in separate classes. some days, i feel like i over think this too much and know that them being in the same class is not the end of the world and we will figure it out. but, other days, i think they need their own space, their own friends and their time apart. and how will they feel come 6th grade when they are not in the same class anymore? i have no idea right now and they can't tell me either.
so i am feeling in limbo. our faith and church is the base of our family. it is what keeps us strong as a family. it keeps us grounded and makes our week start out on the right foot.
thanks becky for the picture!
we went to a different church today that is about 10 minutes from us and it was wonderful. the church was beautiful, with a great sense of community. the girls went to the nursery, which was so nice. i don't remember the last time i actually heard everything in mass and actually could think about what father was teaching me about...it was a great homily today about sharing your 'gifts' in a world filled with so many bad things going on.in the next few weeks we will be touring some other schools and churches within a few miles of our house. we are in no rush, but want to take our time and figure out what is best for our family.
on a totally different topic...the PACKERS are going to the Super Bowl...YAY!!! GO PACK GO!!!!
what makes you feel in limbo?
and what helps make you feel at peace again?
happy monday!

Hope you find peaceful solutions real soon Melissa!
ReplyDeleteGood friends and grounding...that keeps me feeling at peace. Wishing you well! :)
ReplyDeletesorry you are feeling in limbo. we felt like that about 3 years ago when we switched churches & it was the BEST decision EVER!!!! We love our community there & so do the girls. I will be praying for you guys that you find a church/school that meets your needs!
ReplyDeleteWherever you go, you will surely find the right place, the place where your heart knows it's meant to be! And, since I'm a middle school counselor and see a lot of twins come our way, I can say that it varies from family to family, but things usually change over time. Often the kids are together in elementary, but separate once they hit 6th grade, mainly for a sense of autonomy. They might have the same teachers (to make it easier on the parents), but at different times. And then, there's twins that go all the way to college together as it's a bond that singletons can never fully understand :)
ReplyDeleteit will all sort out. follow peace. it's the holy spirit nudging you in the right direction.
ReplyDeleteWe struggle with this all the time! Not with kids yet but I'm sure that will come :-) We go to a great church in Wayzata (Holy Name of Jesus) that has a fantastic school. I feel like you might be closer into the city though? If you're open to "the burbs" I'd highly recommend it as a great community though!
